Bushu Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Bushu, a Japanese and Chinese study app published by MTS Studio. By installing or using Bushu you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to install and use Bushu on devices you own or control, for your own studying. You may not resell the app, redistribute modified builds as if they were ours, or use our name, logo, or branding to imply endorsement.
2. Your content is yours
The decks, cards, notes, recordings, and images you create or import remain yours. We claim no rights over them, and because they never leave your device we could not act on them if we wanted to.
You are responsible for what you import. If you bring in a deck someone else made, respect its licence.
3. Bundled dictionary content and its licences
Bushu ships vocabulary and character data built from open dictionaries. JMdict/EDICT, JmdictFurigana, and KANJIDIC2 are published by the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group under CC BY-SA 4.0; CC-CEDICT is CC BY-SA 4.0; KanjiVG is CC BY-SA 3.0; Unihan and the Unicode Character Database are published by Unicode, Inc. under the Unicode licence.
Those licences travel with the data. If you export a deck built from Bushu's bundled content and publish it, the ShareAlike terms apply to what you publish. Each source and its licence is listed in the app under About → Sources.
4. Levels are ours, and are not JLPT or HSK
Bushu grades its vocabulary into nine levels derived from how often each word appears in real usage. They are Bushu's own bands. They are not JLPT levels, they are not HSK levels, and Bushu is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the organisations behind either examination.
5. No warranty
Bushu is provided as is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that its scheduling will suit every learner, or that its dictionary data is free of the errors any dictionary contains.
Your study data lives only on your device. We cannot recover it, because we never have a copy. Export a backup if losing it would matter to you.
6. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, MTS Studio is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Bushu, including lost study data. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
7. Changes and termination
We may update these terms; the date at the top changes when we do. You may stop using Bushu at any time by uninstalling it, which also deletes your data from your device.
